Kandy G Lopez

Kandy G Lopez is an Afro-Caribbean visual artist, who works with various materials and mediums to represent marginalized individuals. Her works are created out of the necessity to learn something new about her people and culture.  Born in Bayone, New Jersey, Lopez's family relocated to Miami when she was 8 years-old, where they lived in Hialeah before settling in Carol City. A graduate of New World School of the Arts, she received her BFA and BS from the University of South Florida, concentrating in Painting and in Marketing and Management. She earned an MFA with a concentration in Painting from Florida Atlantic University (2014). Lopez is an Associate Professor and Program Director of Art + Design for the Halmos College of Art & Sciences at NOVA Southeastern University.
